Backstory/History - aka, where they have been between DH and Ascendant, and beyond: Lavender's seventh year was a disaster once the Death Eaters infiltrated Hogwarts. Luckily, she had enough acting abilities to save herself from being tortured like Neville Longbottom and other Gryffindors. Yet she still kept practicing at her defense skills in preparation for the final showdown. When Harry, Hermione and Ron snuck into Hogwarts, they found her in the Room of Requirement along with the other members of the Army. She was scared spitless and hoped her Gryffindor traits kept her alive once more. She was rather surprised to find it rather easy to stun the Death Eaters, until once she was dueling with backed her up onto a high balcony. A curse from below went awry and struck the balcony, bringing her down and at the mercy of Fenrir Greyback. The rest of the Battle is rather hazy to Lavender and she really has no desires to remember anything more.

Lavender Brown was last seen moving feebly under the wreckage from the balcony, bleeding profusely from slashes to her face and right side where Greyback attacked her before being felled by a crystal ball and a spell from Hermione Granger. When the Healers from St Mungos finally reached her, she was severely injured and no one was positive if she would pull through. Her determination to live helped her body to live, though the emotional pain never went away. When she fell from the balcony, the bones in her legs shattered, the most damage being to the right one, having landed on her right side. The Healers managed to regrow most of her shattered bones, though Lavender walks with a slight limp, and her right arm droops a bit. The gashes from Greyback never truly healed, much like Bill Weasley's, and she has terrible scarring covering from parts of her chest, to her neck and parts of her face.

When Lavender finally saw her image in a mirror, she refused to believe it was her. Who could be that pale blonde girl with all those marks on her face? Where was that pretty, vivacious blonde Lavender remembered seeing? Absolutely horrified at any of her friends seeing her, she barred all visitors and only allowed her parents entrance to her room. When she was finally released from St Mungos after a long stay, she fled to a small cottage her family had in France near the French Rivieria to recuperate. It took nearly a year before Lavender finally snapped out of her depression and began to think on her future. While cooped up at the cottage, she'd written fragments of stories she dreamed up on bits of loose parchment and when her mum stumbled over a fragment, she convinced Lavender that her writings weren't half-bad. Figuring she'd never truly be able to experience romance, Lavender's imagination soon took over and her first novel The Wicked Warlock was sent off to various wizarding publishers before one finally took pity on her. That is how Cerise Russet (her pen name and a rather ironic one- those both belonging to the same color families as lavender and brown were) became born. As the galleons began to roll into her account from sales of her novels, Lavender began to spend it all on anything and everything that could possibly heal the scars that she so hated. After countless failed glamours, failed potions that promised to restore her appearance, and one failed cure all that caused more pain than anything, she finally gave up. She became reclusive, and insists on her hair falling forward to cover the scars on her face. She also wears long robes that cover her from neck down, so no wounds would be visible.

Eventually Lavender tired of the small cottage and the French landscape and has recently moved back to England while she continues to pen several more romance novels having proven to be relatively successful at the venture. She is currently looking for a small flat or house to reside in, and perhaps once she finally gets enough courage- to venture back into society and become the Lavender she once was.

How the war affected them: Lavender desperately wishes she could forget the events of Deathly Hallows. Not to be cliched, but her life literally changed after the last battle. Gravely injured and deeply scarred from Fenrir Greyback's attack and the fall from the balcony took a toll on Lavender. Yet she would do it all over again if it meant the end of He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named's (she still shudders and refuses to call him Voldemort) reign. Well, mostly all over again, she'd prefer not to take such a fall and being maimed by a werewolf. But the good side ended up winning, right?
